Privacy Policy

Playback18 (the "Service") is a service provided by Takashi Miyamoto, operator of Playback18 ("we," "us," or "our"), that automatically generates recap videos from recordings of golf rounds. We respect the privacy of our users and of the individuals who appear in the footage, and we handle personal information as set forth below.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Recorded video files (video and audio; playing partners and other persons besides the person recording may appear or be heard) and the date and time of recording
• Location information (GPS during recording; used to calculate shot locations, trajectories, and carry distances, to draw the hole map, and to select the parts of the recording where play takes place)
• Account information (identifier and email address when signing in with a Google/Apple account)
• Main-player registration information (a text description or photo of your outfit for the day, used to identify the subject of the recap video; optional) and the number of people you played with that day (used to improve the accuracy of that identification)
• Name, email address, and inquiry details entered in the contact form

Information collected automatically

• Purchase information (plan type, purchase date, and store-issued identifiers; processed through Google Play / App Store — we never receive your credit card number)
• Shared-page viewing and playback records (share-link token, viewing/playback date and time, browser type; not used to identify individuals)
• App usage information (records of which features were used and when, the app version, device model, OS and version, language, an approximate region (country) inferred from your connection, and an identifier issued per app installation). This is not linked to your account information, videos, or location data. Numeric values such as recording length are rounded into coarse buckets so that individual behaviour cannot be reconstructed in detail
• App operation logs and device information (for troubleshooting)

2. Purposes of Use

1. To provide automatic recap video generation, storage, and sharing features
2. To manage pricing plans (free allowance, generation counts) and process billing
3. To respond to inquiries and communicate important notices
4. To improve service quality, investigate defects, and prevent unauthorized use
5. To perform statistical analysis of usage (in a form that does not identify individuals)

3. Handling of Video, Audio, and Location Data (Core of the Service)

• Uploaded videos are processed in the cloud solely for the purpose of generating recap videos.
• We use external generative AI services to analyze videos. We use them under a contractual arrangement (a paid, business-tier service) in which the data is not used for training, and your videos and audio are never used to train AI models.
• Original recorded videos are automatically deleted from our servers within a maximum of 14 days after generation processing is complete.
• Cloud retention of generated recap videos depends on your plan (three (3) years from generation while on a paid plan; 90 days from generation for free use or after cancelling the monthly plan). You can view and share them at any time during that period, and they are automatically deleted afterwards. See Article 5, Paragraph 2 of the Terms for details. Recaps already saved to your device remain on your device.
• Individuals are identified solely by external visual characteristics such as clothing; we do not perform facial recognition or collect or store biometric information.
• We do not provide videos or location data to third parties without the consent of the individual concerned (except as required by law).

4. Footage of Playing Partners and Other Persons Besides the Person Recording

• The person recording must obtain the consent of playing partners before recording and uploading (as provided in the Terms of Service).
• Individuals appearing in footage may request deletion through the contact point stated on the shared page or through the contact form. We will take appropriate action, such as deleting the relevant video, within a reasonable period.

5. Third-Party Services (Processing Subcontractors)

All of these are established, reputable major providers, and the handling of information by each service is governed by its respective privacy policy. Our servers are located primarily in Japan (and, in the future, in the United States).

Website Analytics (Google Analytics)

This website uses Google Analytics (GA4), an analytics tool provided by Google LLC, to understand how the site is used and to improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies (small pieces of data stored in your browser) to collect browsing information; this does not include information that directly identifies you. The data collected is handled in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can stop this data collection by disabling cookies in your browser settings or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

App Usage Analytics

To find and fix places where the app is hard to use, this app uses Google Analytics for Firebase, provided by Google LLC, to aggregate app usage. What we aggregate is a record of which features were used and when, plus device model, OS, app version, and an approximate region (country). It is not linked to your name, email address, recorded videos, or location data. An identifier issued per app installation is used; it changes if you delete and reinstall the app and does not identify you personally. The collected data is handled in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy. How Google uses information collected from this app is described at “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”. These records are automatically deleted after 2 months. Because this aggregation is not linked to your account, it cannot be deleted individually when you delete your account (it is erased after the 2-month retention period).

6. Information Security

We manage the information we collect in access-controlled environments and strive to prevent leakage, loss, and damage. Communications are encrypted (HTTPS).

7. Requests for Disclosure, Correction, and Deletion

If you wish to request disclosure, correction, or deletion of your information (including uploaded videos, generated videos, and account information), please contact us through the contact form. We will verify your identity and respond in accordance with applicable law.

8. For California Residents (CCPA)

We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Requests for disclosure, deletion, and other rights under that law are accepted through the contact point described in Section 7.

9. For Minors

If you are under 18 years of age, please use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may revise this Policy in response to changes in laws or in the Service. We will announce material changes in the app or on our website.

11. Contact

This Policy is prepared in Japanese and translated into English for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy, the Japanese version shall prevail.
